The studio workshop was incredible! Thank you so much Nick. We covered so much, but I never felt like I was drowning in it all. I left full of confidence about getting the lighting to be flattering and professional.

I have now got four families booked in for a shoot and I am VERY excited

Overview

Studio photography and portraiture are fantastic genres for both amateur and professional photographers to move in to.

With just a little outlay on studio equipment, professional headshots, family shoots, children, pets and artistic portraits are all possible and will keep you busy with work.

However, to make your work stand out from the crowd and to command higher value from your bookings, studio work requires knowledge of many key areas of photography: camera settings, lighting techniques & placement, positioning and interacting with your subjects and finally some Photoshop techniques that really take your work upwards.

This one-day session with Nick Church covers all of this and more, and you will leave buzzing with the knowledge you need to make your studio a success.

Available as a one-to-one session or as a scheduled small group session.

Many courses jump into crushing detail that is unnecessary and you can often leave with more questions that you arrived with.

My approach is different. With clear coaching and mentoring we build up knowledge and skills at a pace driven by you. I believe not only is this the best way of learning, but the best use of your investment – you want to spend it once, and then leave with all the skills you need built-in.

Each new area is backed up with practical sessions so you leave with an intuitive understanding which will allow you to create and share incredible images with your clients.

As your mentor, I am always very happy to hear from previous clients and provide further advice, answer any questions or even have quick calls on a particular subject. This resource is proving to be of great value to my attendees.

  • A model will sit for us for an hour or so to put into practice all the techniques we’ve learned

Course Content

This session is aimed at photographers moving into studio work. Perhaps you’re a busy photographer, keen to take your business to the next level by tapping into the lucrative Family, Portrait or Headshot markets.

Or maybe an enthusiast, simply keen to take your skills to the next level.

If you are a beginner photographer, we suggest taking the ‘Photographer Unleashed!’ workshop first.

Who is it for?

You need to be confident with your camera and with photography theory. Feel free to bring any flash setup you have so you can practice with your own kit.

But if you do not have lighting kit yet, no problem, you can use mine and I can also give recommendations on equipment during the session.
