Lockdown Life: Families amid the chaos
Special times, of any kind, need to be captured
Despite the pandemic, the popularity of family and newborn photoshoots at Nick Church Photography have gone through the roof, and I’ve been able to help the NHS too!
The government guidance at the strictest point of lockdown, while wooly and full of grey areas, has never excluded a family taking exercise together and has encouraged self-employed businesses to continue to operate where they can do safely. As far as I am concerned, that’s ‘game on’.
It started when my sister’s baby Florence (or ’Florrington Chicken’ which is my current favourite nick-name) arrived. I took some socially-distanced shots of Jenny and baby together and soon my ‘socially distanced’ baby and family shoots started to take off.
Naturally for newborns, many parents want a shoot because the baby changes so much in those first couple of weeks, but families are loving them too. There is something about the lockdown that has made families feel closer, more protective and want to capture that. I think the amazing weather, and the fact that it’s a break from home-schooling helps too!
These shoots are such fun for me too. I usually shoot weddings, all of which have been so far postponed this year, and these family shoots have been a great way to keep creative and get new ideas to always take my work forward.
Lockdown Offer
To make things as easy for families as possible in a time of financial uncertainty, I’ve been running these shoots at about a third the usual price and have also been donating a portion of proceeds to the NHS NICU Charity.
If you would like to book a photo session, it’s all done online where you can choose a date and time that suits you all. For an information pack, including your link to the booking system, please get in touch.
